Nnamdi Asomugha is a former professional American football cornerback and actor. Early Life
Nnamdi Asomugha was born on July 6, 1981 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is the son of Nigerian immigrants, Titi and Nnamdi Asomugha Sr. He grew up in Los Angeles, California and attended Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California, where he was an All-League selection in football, basketball, and track. He went on to attend the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection and a two-time All-American.
Professional Career
Asomugha was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He quickly established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, earning two Pro Bowl selections in 2008 and 2010. He was also named to the All-Pro team in 2008 and 2009. In 2011, he signed a five-year, $60 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, making him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. Asomugha played three seasons with the Eagles before retiring in 2013.
