Kim Namjoon aka RM (born 12 September 1994) is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, composer, and producer. He’s best known as a member of the ‘Bangtan Boys’ or (BTS) hip-hop group.

It’s also popularly known as ‘Rapmon’ by its South Korean fans. Kim is the key rapper of BTS, and he is also the chief. Two mixtapes were released in 2015 and 2018 by RM and Mono as solo artists.
He was born in Ilsan-gu, South Korea. Kim’s family settled in South Korea at the time of his birth and is a well-known and wealthy family in the region. He has a family of four members, including his father, his mother, himself, and his younger sister.
His parents’ identities have not yet been disclosed. His father is an SK Telecom employee, while his mother is a realtor. He’s got a sister named Kim Geongmin who’s very close to him.
He studied and completed high school at Apgujeong High School. He is currently enrolled in the Global Cyber University. He was a major in electrical engineering.
He also studied in New Zealand for six months but returned to his home country. In TOEIC, he scored 900 points. It has high-level intelligence with an IQ of 148.

Biography of Kim Namjoon
In the world of music, he began his career under the name of Runch Randa as a solo underground musician. After hearing High’s epic “Fly” at just 11 years of age, he became involved in hip hop music.
Through this song, he felt comfortable and so went deeper into the genre. After his school teacher exposed Eminem to an American rapper, RM became more interested in lyricism.
RM then went on to write lyrics saying that his poetry had become lyrics when paired with music. In 2007, RM began rapping in local amateur hip-hop circles with a self-composed song.
On June 12, 2013, he made his debut with the hip-hop boy band BTS. He was the first BTS member to join. He said that raping helped him relieve the burden of his studies.
In 2015, he was released his 1st single entitled P.D.D. together with Warren G. Some days later, he released his first solo mixtape. ‘RM’.
On October 23, 2018, he made a comeback with the “Mono” mixtape. He even released three MVs: “Moonchild”, “Forever Rain”, and “Seoul” off of his mixtape.
Besides this, RM has composed and produced more than 100 songs to date. He has worked with several artists such as Wale, Warren G, Gaeko, Krizz Kaliko, MFBTY, Fall Out Boy, Primary, and Lil Nas X.
