    Jean-Michel Basquiat was born on December 22, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Matilde Andrades and Gerard Basquiat, were both of Haitian descent. He was raised in a middle-class family and grew up with a passion for drawing and painting. Basquiat attended the prestigious Edward R. Murrow High School, where he excelled in art classes. After dropping out of school, he worked as a street artist in Lower Manhattan, where he gained a reputation for his bold and colorful graffiti art.

    In the early 1980s, Basquiat’s art began to gain recognition. His works were exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Europe. He also collaborated with renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Julian Schnabel. Basquiat’s career was tragically cut short when he died of a drug overdose in 1988.
