Condoleezza Rice is an American political scientist and diplomat who served as the 66th United States Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009. Early Life of Condoleezza Rice
Condoleezza Rice was born on November 14, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama to Angelena Rice, a music teacher, and John Wesley Rice Jr., a high school guidance counselor and Presbyterian minister. She was raised in a racially segregated neighborhood of Birmingham and attended St. Mary’s Academy, an all-girls Catholic school. She graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and received her Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of International Studies in 1981.
Rice was a professor at Stanford University from 1981 to 1991 and 1993 to 1999. She was a special assistant to the National Security Advisor and senior director for Soviet and East European Affairs at the National Security Council from 1989 to 1991.
