Jacqueline Marie “Jackie” Evancho is an American classical crossover singer who gained wide recognition at an early age and, since 2009, has issued an EP and seven albums, including a platinum and gold album and three Billboard 200 top 10 debuts. A child prodigy, Evancho is also known for her appearance on America’s Got Talent in 2010, at the age of 10.
Early Life of Jackie Evancho
Jackie Evancho was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 9, 2000. She is the fourth of five children and the only daughter of Lisa and Michael Evancho. She began singing at a very young age and was noticed by her parents when she was only 8 years old. Her mother enrolled her in vocal lessons and soon afterwards, she began performing at local events.
At the age of 9, Evancho was selected to compete in the fifth season of America’s Got Talent. She quickly rose to fame due to her powerful voice and her ability to perform classical music. She made it to the finals of the show and finished in second place.
Rise to Stardom for Jackie Evancho
After her success on America’s Got Talent, Evancho signed a record deal with Columbia Records and released her debut album, Prelude to a Dream, in 2010. The album was a major success and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. She followed up with her second album, Dream With Me, which also peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold.
Evancho’s success continued with her third album, Heavenly Christmas, which was released in 2011 and peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200 chart.
